Pro Dive Instructor MASTERS Traineeship - 17 Weeks
This is a comprehensive package of professional Pro Dive training at the Pro Dive Academy, leading to PADI's Open Water Scuba Instructor award and worldwide job opportunities. This traineeship follows the well-established PADI modular programme starting with Advanced Open Water Diver. It includes a list of specialty courses to ensure you are competent in all areas of dive operation plus a four weeks development phase after graduation, to give you confidence, experience and credits as a dive instructor.
The traineeship includes a dive-away experience - a two week period after your Divemaster assessment, where you log more dives, gain experience and take your first steps as a dive professional. In the first week you assist on dive courses in Sydney, usually working from Pro Dive's dive boat, Sea Life V. In the second week you fly off to Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef for a week, diving in paradise; airfares included.
After dive-away, you return to Sydney to take part in the Assistant Instructor course. Next you join your Instructor Development Course (IDC). This is designed to teach you all you need to know about dive training within the PADI scheme, as well as preparing you for the specific job of teaching the sport. This is followed by Pro Dive's IDC Plus, where you recap the essential skills, practice your teaching techniques and undertake a mock exam. A short period of revision and practical rehearsal ensures you are ready to pass your Instructor Evaluation with flying colours.
The final four weeks of the traineeship are spent on a Graduate Dive Mentor programme where you assist experienced instructors on a variety of courses. As you build your own experience and gain confidence you will be expected to take on more responsibility. By the end of the course, you will be ready to take on a challenging job of your own. You will also have a number of PADI student certification credits to your name.
