Scuba diving Sydney, Shark Point
Shark Point is defiantly on of the best scuba diving Sydney dive sites! It is defiantly a dive to do with someone that has some experience in diving Sydney. This Sydney dive site is very exposed and the conditions need to be right for a safe dive. The best entry and exits are via rock unless you want to take a good swim from Clovelly pool. This is only available after April and before November.
With sightings of marlin, many (harmless) sharks and from time to time the salmon run if you get the right time of the year( as per the video above).
Some access the site from either side of Clovelly Bay, although the best entry point for the most enjoyable for the experienced diver is from the northern side. Parking is at the end of Ocean Street or at the start of Eastbourne Avenue, Clovelly. This is near the bus terminus and turning point. Best double check the entry before gearing up, walk to the rough pathway that leads down to the rock platform. Look out towards the point itself and ascertain if the seas are suitable. This is the normal entry and exit point. There is another entry point this is known for being even better. The bottom of Ocean St, walk across the grass to the east. Here you will find a rock fissure that runs from the top right down into the water. The entry point is on the south side of the rock fissure.
Entry would be via giant stride off the rocks. Once in the water you can head east down to 25m or just down to a depth of 16m then follow the rock wall or bottom round towards Clovelly pool.
Keep you eyes open around the kelp between the 12-16m mark for Weedy sea dragons, and remember to have a look under any rock ledges for the Blue devil fish and cutlet fish. Often you will get schools of king fish and other pelagic fish with the acoustical visit of a giant Bull Ray.
